Food for a birthday!

My sweet friend Amy had a birthday recently.  So she came on out to the farm and we had a little pre-birthday week party.  Everyone needs a pre-birthday week party.  Her birthday was on Saturday, but we needed to start the celebration on Sunday, the week before, just because she is so wonderful!

We had homemade limeade from Pioneer Woman’s new cookbook, here is how you can do it at home:

Pioneer Woman’s Cherry Limeade
1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
1 cup sugar
One 2-liter bottle lemon-lime soda
One 5-oz jar maraschino cherries, with juice
Thin lime slices, for garnish.

Chill all ingredients thoroughly before using, then mix them up and enjoy!
We also made our own calzones…sorry, I pretty much polished ‘er off before I remembered to take a picture.  There were lots of different toppings, we took our pick and loaded the calzones up.
Kara brought the crowning wonderful part of our meal…three kinds of dessert to share.  I polished off the spice cake single-handedly.  It was wonderful, and so was the pre-birthday party for a dear friend.
